Aker Solutions is acquiring the mechanical workshop company Lyngdal Mek. Verksted (LMV), thereby increasing its capacity to assemble, test and overhaul drilling equipment ,especially for the North Sea market.

Avista Capital to acquire Top-Co

Private equity firm Avista Capital Partners announced today it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Top-Co Inc., a privately-held, designer and manufacturer of specialized casing cementing products used in the drilling and completion of oil, natural gas and geothermal wells. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of 2012, were not disclosed. 

Environmental Drilling Solutions receives investment backing

Environmental Drilling Solutions, LLC, a provider of solids control, cuttings processing and zero discharge services, has received a growth equity investment from Element Partners and CSL Capital Management.  

Greene's Energy acquires Associated Rental Tools

On May 7, Greene’s Energy Group (GEG), a provider of integrated testing, rentals, and specialty services, said it had acquired the shares of Singapore-based Associated Rental Tools Company Pte, Ltd. (Artco).

CARBO to construct ceramics plant in Georgia

Houston-based CARBO Ceramics Inc. will begin construction on a manufacturing plant in Millen, Ga., by the end of the year. Operations could begin at the end of 2013.

PEMEX outlines procurement needs at OTC

The loss since 2004 of 1.5 million barrels/day from its super-giant Cantarell field has prompted PEMEX E&P, the upstream unit of Petroleos Mexicanos, Mexico's state-owned oil company, to look again at its portfolio of undrilled prospects in the shallow waters of Campeche. At a PEMEX procurement panel on April 30 at Houston's Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), New Ventures Manager Sergio Guaso outlined PEMEX's plans for public tenders of offshore blocks, including, by year-end, ones in deepwater areas.

Effective today, WEST Engineering Services, predominantly experts in subsea systems, will join the Lloyd's Register Group, a global organisation  that provides independent assurance and advice to companies operating high-risk, capital-intensive assets in the energy and transportation sectors.

Wood Group Mustang awarded topsides engineering contract

Wood Group Mustang has been awarded the topsides detailed engineering and procurement support for the semi-submersible central processing facility (CPF) in the Ichthys field development. The contract was awarded by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., the EPC contractor for the CPF.  The project, located off the northwest coast of Australia in 250 meters of water, will be operated by INPEX.
