Geotrace, an independent reservoir services company that provides subsurface imaging solutions to the oil and gas industry, has appointed Gary Yu as the company’s first-ever chief technology officer. Yu had been chief geophysicist of Reservoir Technologies at Geotrace since 2006.
Yu has over 30 years of experience. His geosciences work has included extensive experience in integrated prospect evaluation, field development and geophysical technology on projects ranging from North and South America to West Africa, the North Sea and the Far East. His specialties include interpretation, reservoir characterization, seismic attributes, AVO/inversion, pore pressure, surface/borehole seismic acquisition/processing, and PSTM/PSDM.
Prior to joining Geotrace, Yu had worked with CGG, Exxon Production & Research, Superior Oil, Elf Exploration and Total E&P, where he was manager of worldwide geophysical benchmark and chief geophysicist in the US.
He holds a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.
