St. Mary's makes executive appointments
St. Mary Land & Exploration Co. has made several new executive appointments.
Kenneth Knott has been appointed vice president – business development and land. He has also been appointed assistant secretary. Knott has been an employee of St. Mary since 2000 and most recently held the position of land manager for the Gulf Coast region. Knott will be based in the Houston office.
John Monark was appointed vice president – human resources. In addition, he will have responsibility for corporate administration, media and community relations, and office leasing functions. Monark joined St. Mary in May 2008. He has over 20 years of human resources experience, including positions with Johns Manville, CH2M HILL and, most recently, Shea Homes.
David J. Whitcomb has been appointed vice president – marketing. Whitcomb joined St. Mary in 1994 and previously served as assistant vice president – director of marketing for St. Mary.
Dennis Zubieta has been appointed vice president – engineering and evaluation. Zubieta has been an employee of St. Mary since 2000 and most recently served as manager –reservoir engineering.
Milam Randolph Pharo has been appointed general counsel and senior vice president. He previously held the positions of vice president – land and legal and assistant secretary. He has been an employee of St. Mary since 1996 and served as outside legal counsel for the company prior to becoming an employee.
Whitcomb, Zubieta, Monark, and Pharo will be office out of St. Mary's headquarters in Denver.
Fornari to serve as national managing director of energy, resources
Deloitte recently announced that David J. Fornari, principal of Deloitte Consulting LLP, will lead client services for the U.S. Department of Energy, and will serve as national managing director of the energy and resources services for their Federal Government Services segment.
Fornari has more than 30 years of business experience, including 25 years of general management consulting experience. Over the course of his consulting career, Fornari has assisted numerous companies in the utility and energy industries.
As Deloitte's Federal Energy and Resources leader, Fornari will play a key role in the development of client-centric programs, which are designed to assist the largest national and global energy companies address the challenges of competition, convergence, and deregulation.
Petroceltic appoints new finance director
Petroceltic International plc has appointed Alan McGettigan to the board as finance director. McGettigan has over 20 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production. Prior to joining Petroceltic, Alan worked for BG International where he held senior roles in commercial and group business development.
He holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree, as well as an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
BHP Billiton appoints Boeckmann, Rumble as directors
BHP Billiton has named two new non-executive directors, Alan Boeckmann and Keith Rumble, effective September 1, 2008.
Boeckmann is currently the chairman and CEO of Fluor Corp. USA. Rumble was until recently the CEO of SUN Mining and has more than 30 years experience in the resources industry, specifically in titanium and platinum mining and processing.
The appointment of Boeckmann and Rumble will bring the number of BHP Billiton directors to 13.
Stolt-Neilsen appoints new board director
Stolt-Nielsen SA has appointed Samuel Cooperman to the board of directors in order to fill a current vacancy. Cooperman will be nominated for re-election at the company's 2009 Annual General Meeting. With his appointment, the number of SNSA directors remains at seven.
Cooperman joined Stolt-Nielsen in 1974 and has held a number of senior management positions, the most recent being chairman and CEO of Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group. He retired in 2003.
He holds both a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Columbia University and from the Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania, respectively, and an MBA from Temple University.
Flotek appoints McMahon to board
Houston-based Flotek Industries Inc. has named Kevin G. McMahon to the board of directors. He will also serve as chairman of Flotek's audit committee.
McMahon has been with Calpine Corp. as senior vice president-internal audit since 2006. He holds an MBA from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, and is a Certified Internal Auditor.
Flotek is a global developer and distributor of specialty chemicals, and downhole drilling and production equipment.
Wood Group elects Blum as Ecuador GM
Wood Group ESP has appointed Carlos Blum as Ecuador general manager. Blum will oversee the day-to-day operations of Wood Group ESP business in Ecuador and be responsible for maintaining its growth over time.
He has more than 25 years of diverse experience in domestic and international assignments within the oil and gas industry
Prior to joining Wood Group, Blum was the general manager of the Block 15 oilfield for PetroEcuador. Blum received a petroleum engineering degree from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Carson to lead Canada School of energy, environment
The Canada School of Energy and Environment has appointed Bruce Carson, senior advisor to the prime minister, as its first executive director.
The Canada School of Energy and Environment is an innovative research and education collaboration involving the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and the University of Lethbridge.
Carson has a degree from the University of Ottawa and another from the University of Toronto.
Boots & Coots names new CFO
Houston-based Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc. has hired Cary Baetz as its CFO. Before joining Boots & Coots, Baetz served as vice president of finance, treasurer, and assistant secretary for Chaparral Steel since its spin off from Texas Industries in 2005. He received his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University and his MBA from the University of Arkansas.

Platinum Energy names Meier CFO, president of new division
Platinum Energy Resources Inc. has hired Lisa Meier as CFO and treasurer of Platinum Energy. Meier will also serve as president of the company's newly created services and infrastructure division, Platinum Services and Infrastructure Inc.
Meier previously served as CFO of Flotek Industries Inc., since April 2004 and was subsequently promoted to vice president in January 2005 and senior vice president in July 2007.
Meier holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA from from the University of Texas.
Subsea UK elects new chief executive
Subsea UK has appointed Alistair Birnie to the post of chief executive. Birnie is currently global head of technology for subsea controls with Aker Solutions and chairman of the SUT in Aberdeen. He will take up his new post on October 1.
Birnie has 28 years experience in the subsea industry. Prior to joining Aker Solutions, he was technology application manager for ITF.
St. Mary hires CFO
St. Mary Land & Exploration Co. has hired Wade Pursell as executive vice president and CFO. Pursell has over 20 years of experience in financial and accounting positions. He most recently was employed at Helix Energy Solutions where he served as CFO. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Arkansas.
Norwood Resources names VP, operations
Norwood Resources Ltd. has appointed David Grellman to the position of vice president operations. Grellman has 36 years' experience in the global oil and gas industry primarily in the well operations. His most recent position at Occidental was manager of exploration operations. Grellman graduated from the University of Sydney.
Gulf Onshore names new directors, forms exploration company
Gulf Onshore Inc. has appointed R. Wayne Duke, Earl Moore, and Mark Smith as directors. The company also named Moore CEO and Smith CFO. Dean Elliot has resigned as an officer and director for personal reasons.
Duke was a director of the company from October 2007 to February 2008, and was recently reappointed. Duke has over 25 years of experience in the area of oil field equipment. He holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA from The University of North Texas.
Moore has served as the company's director of oil field operations since December 2007.
Smith has performed accounting work for the company on a consulting basis since early 2007. He has extensive experience in management, finance, acquisition, forecasting/ budgeting and strategic planning. Smith received his bachelor's degree from Boston University.
The company has also formed Shale Gas Operating Ltd., a Pennsylvania corporation, for the purpose of conducting oil and gas drilling, completion and general operations on properties including the Marcellus Shale. Shale Gas will seek authority from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Oil and Gas Management to operate oil and gas wells in the state.
APEC names Dunderdale senior VP
Asia Pacific Exploration Consolidated LLC (APEC), an exploration-driven company that is focused on finding oil and gas in South East Asia, has added to its management team by naming Ian Dunderdale as senior vice president and partner. He will be based in Singapore with responsibility for APEC's business development activities.
Dunderdale has over 24 years experience in the international oil and gas sector.
APEC is backed by private equity funding from Pine Brook Road Partners, Temasek, Actis and AES.
Grigg named senior VP of Pacific Asia Petroleum
Pacific Asia Petroleum Inc. has appointed Richard Grigg as senior vice president and managing director. Grigg has served as the company's managing director of its Beijing office since October 2007, and has 38 years' experience in the petroleum and resource industries. Prior to joining Pacific Asia Petroleum, Grigg was the COO for Sino Gas & Energy based in Beijing.
AGR Group Americas appoints new CEO
Francis J. Brown has been appointed CEO of AGR Group Americas, based in Houston. Brown has worked for AGR Group since April 2006, as the president of F. J. Brown and Associates, and has been a member of the AGR Group Americas board of directors during the same period.
He will continue his position in F. J. Brown and Associates while taking on the role as CEO of AGR Group Americas.
Flotek Industries CFO resigns
Lisa G. Meier has resigned as senior vice president and CFO of Flotek Industries Inc. to pursue other interests. Meier's resignation will be effective August 8.
Andrew Jowett, Flotek's chief accounting officer, will serve as interim CFO. Jowett joined Flotek in 2006, having previously served as finance director of process instruments for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

CAPP appoints new president
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), has named David Collyer, currently president and country chair of Shell Canada, as the new president of CAPP, effective September 15, 2008.
He brings more than 30 years' experience in the oil and gas industry to his role. Collyer holds both a bachelor's degree and an MBA. He replaces Pierre Alvarez, who will continue to serve in a transition role until the end of September.
Boots & Coots appoints Edwards as COO
Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc. has named Dewitt Edwards COO. Edwards has served various capacities for Boots & Coots since September of 1998, the most recent as executive vice president since June 30, 2006. Before joining Boots & Coots, he was employed by Halliburton Energy Services for 19 years. Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc. provides a suite of integrated pressure control services to onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration companies around the world.
Jefferies expands investment banking team for energy practice
The Jefferies investment bank has expanded its management team for the firm's energy investment banking group, Jefferies Randall & Dewey. This team will include Ralph Eads III, appointed chairman of the group and formerly its co-president, and Stephen Straty and David Rockecharlie, who have been named group co-heads.
Straty joins Jefferies following 17 years at Bear Stearns, and Rockecharlie is a 14-year energy banker who has been with Jefferies for the past five. In addition to being named Chairman of Jefferies Randall & Dewey, Eads has also been appointed a vice chairman of Jefferies & Co. Inc.
Claire Farley, who previously served with Eads as co-president of Jefferies Randall & Dewey, will return to the oil and gas industry, becoming a long-term consultant and trusted advisor to the firm.
Straty has nearly 30 years of experience in finance, most recently as a senior managing director and head of the natural resources group at Bear Stearns, where he worked for the past 17 years. He received a bachelor's degree and an MBA from the University of Texas.
Prior to Jefferies Randall & Dewey, Rockecharlie was an executive at El Paso Corp., where he held senior operating and finance positions. He received an AB from Princeton University.
