    Chesapeake completes spin-off of oilfield services business

    Chesapeake Energy Corp. has completed the spin-off of its oilfield services business, previously conducted through Chesapeake Oilfield Operating LLC, into a stand-alone, publicly traded company called Seventy Seven Energy Inc.

    Cheniere, Woodside sign 20-year LNG sale and purchase agreement

    Cheniere Energy Inc. reports that its subsidiary, Corpus Christi Liquefaction LLC, has entered into a liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement with Woodside Energy Trading Singapore Pte Ltd under which Woodside has agreed to purchase 0.85 million tonnes per annum of LNG upon the commencement of operations of Train 2 of the LNG export facility being developed near Corpus Christi, Texas.

    Eclipse Resources prices IPO

    Eclipse Resources Corp. has priced its initial public offering of 30,300,000 shares of common stock at $27.00 per share. The shares are expected to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange on June 20 under the ticker symbol “ECR.”

    Cimarex to join S&P 500

    Among the changes that the S&P Dow Jones Indices will make after the close of trading on June 20 includes S&P MidCap 400 constituent Cimarex Energy Co. replacing International Game Technology in the S&P 500, and International Game Technology replacing Cimarex Energy in the S&P MidCap 400.

    The 2014 Brent/WTI crude relationship

    After tracking within $1/bbl or so of each other for years, international benchmark Brent crude suddenly began to trade at a higher premium to US benchmark WTI in 2010. The Brent premium widened out as far as $28/bbl in November 2011 and averaged $18/bbl in 2012. But during 2013 the relationship calmed down some to average $11/bbl and in 2014 so far has averaged $8.11/Bbl – closing lower at $5.17/bbl yesterday (June 10, 2014). Today we provide an update on the Brent/WTI crude price relationship.
