Quicksilver files application to export LNG

Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc. has filed an application with the Canadian National Energy Board for an LNG export permit.

The company seeks approval to export up to 2.6 bcf/d for a period of 25 years starting as early as 202 from its Discovery LNG site near Campbell River, British Columbia.

To help fund the capital commitments of the project, Quicksilver is working with potential joint venture partners, noted the application.

Quicksilver “will need a partner to help fund the significant capital commitments inherent in such a project (and de-lever KWK's balance sheet),” noted analysts at Global Hunter Securities. In addition to the current search for joint venture partners, the analysts believe Quicksilver “could look to the capital markets to address its balance sheet prior to a formal partnership announcement.”

Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc., headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, is a subsidiary of Quicksilver Resources Inc.
