Marathon Oil appoints Jones VP of Human Resources and Administrative Services

Marathon Oil Corp.

Deanna L. Jones has been elected vice president of Human Resources and Administrative Services at Marathon Oil Corp. (NYSE: MRO), effective January 27, 2014. Jones succeeds Robert L. Sovine who retired from Marathon Oil on Jan. 1, 2014, after 33 years of service.

Jones, 45, most recently served as vice president of Human Resources and chief commercial officer for Newfield Exploration Co. in Houston. Prior to that, she held a number of senior management positions with Schlumberger from 1993 until 2010 in that company's Houston, London and Calgary offices.

Jones holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Calgary, Canada; and has completed executive business courses in human resources at the University of Michigan and in finance at the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
