Gant appointed to US Department of Energy post

    American Gas Association

The American Gas Association (AGA) reports that Dr. Paula Gant, who currently serves as AGA’s senior vice president for policy and planning, has been appointed deputy assistant secretary for oil and natural gas in the Office of Fossil Energy of the US Department of Energy.  She will join Dr. Ernest Moniz, US Secretary of Energy, in the Obama Administration on September 9.

AGA President and CEO Dave McCurdy said, “Paula Gant has been an incredibly knowledgeable and effective representative of the natural gas industry. Since joining AGA in 2006, Paula has been instrumental in developing public policy and strategy initiatives on behalf of the more than 200 member natural gas distribution member companies. She has also been instrumental in enhancing our outreach efforts and has helped build an impressive internal Policy and Planning team, strengthening AGA’s reputation as a credible source of information.”

Prior to joining AGA, Gant worked for Duke Energy as vice president of government affairs and energy policy for Duke Energy Gas Transmission. She earned a doctorate in economics from Auburn University.
