
The law firm of Babst Calland has opened an its newest office in Charleston, West Virginia at the United Center on Virginia Street East.
The expansion of the firm’s natural resources practice is taking place at a time when many of the energy companies participating in unconventional gas development are tapping Babst Calland’s multi-disciplinary practice group for its Marcellus and Utica Shale development initiatives.
The Firm was founded 25 years ago and has represented energy clients since its inception. The firm has developed a multi-disciplinary practice to address the wide range of issues affecting its clients, including environmental, business services, title, litigation, land use, construction, and employment and labor. More than 30 lawyers in the firm currently are involved in servicing the firm’s energy clients.
Energy Attorneys Matthew S. Casto and Steven M. Green joined Babst Calland as shareholders of the firm effective October 10. Casto is admitted to practice in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky and Green is admitted to practice in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining Babst Calland, Casto and Green gained experience in the natural gas industry both as in-house counsel to a major energy company and in private practice serving utility and oil and gas clients.
Earlier this year, Babst Calland added to its team West Virginia energy attorney Arnold Schulberg, who is special counsel to the firm’s energy clients focusing on oil, gas and mineral title examination. More than 20 Babst Calland attorneys are licensed to practice in West Virginia.
