Pine Brook, a New York-based private equity firm that focuses on the energy and financial services industries, has named Richard Aube as a managing director.

With 20 years of experience, Aube joins Pine Brook from DE Shaw & Co., a multi-strategy global investment firm with approximately $19 billion of capital under management, where he was a managing director responsible for co-managing the firm’s North American private equity effort.

Previously, Aube was a partner with JP Morgan Partners, a multi-billion dollar private equity firm affiliated with JP Morgan Chase, where he focused on growth equity and buyout investments in the energy and industrial sectors. Prior to that, Aube was a Partner with the Beacon Group, an investment and advisory firm where he co-managed the firm’s energy funds.

Throughout his career Aube has led investments in and served on the boards of several energy companies, including Bill Barrett Corp., Capstone Turbine Corp., FirstWind Corp., Latigo Petroleum, and Proton Energy Systems.
