
Several ShawCor Ltd. divisions have recently won multiple million dollar contracts.
Shaw Pipe, a division of ShawCor Ltd. has received a contract with a value in excess of $50 million to provide coatings for the Enbridge Alberta Clipper project. Coating will commence in the third quarter of 2008 at the company's Regina pipe coating facility.
Enbridge's Alberta Clipper project will consist of approximately 1,600 km of 36" pipe and will be coated with fusion bonded epoxy anti-corrosion coating and a dual layer fusion bonded epoxy coating for sections of the pipeline requiring additional protection during construction.
Shaw Pipe will also provide Enbridge with rail car loading services for the coated pipe. This project is a crude oil pipeline that will extend from Hardisty, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin and is expected to be in service by mid-2010.
Another ShawCor division, Bredero Shaw, has received a contract worth $20 million to provide three layer anti-corrosion and concrete weight coating for the subsea crossing of Baydaratskaya Bay. The pipeline will be coated at Bredero Shaw's facility in Leith, Scotland.
Baydaratskaya Bay is located in the southern part of the Kara Sea along the coastline of the Yamal Peninsula in Northern Russia. This contract will involve coating 20 km of 48" pipe and represents a section of one of several strategic pipelines that will move gas from the Yamal Peninsula to Europe.
The company has also received a contract worth $30 million from Subsea 7 to provide Thermotite coatings for StatoilHydro's Vega offshore project in the North Sea.
The coating work will run for a four month period from September 2008 to January 2009. The Vega field will be tied-back to the Gjøa production platform by a single carbon steel flowline entailing coating of 27 km 14" ID pipe and 24 km 12" ID pipe.
Thermotite is multi-layer polypropylene-based insulation coating which is customizable and manufactured in a wide range of thicknesses and layers to meet specific performance and subsea installation requirements for both shallow and deepwater insulation systems.
